Tragic ATV Accident Claims Life of North Carolina Firefighter
MONTREAT, N.C. — The Riceville Volunteer Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its own following a tragic ATV accident during a training exercise on Saturday. The incident occurred near Montreat, resulting in the death of a firefighter in the line of duty and injuries to two other crew members.
Officials from French Broad Volunteer Fire and Rescue Inc. reported that emergency crews responded promptly to the scene, but unfortunately, the injured firefighter succumbed to their injuries. The two other members were transported to a local hospital to receive medical care.
In a heartfelt news release, the Riceville Volunteer Fire Department expressed its devastation over the loss, highlighting the impact on their tight-knit community of first responders.
The Black Mountain Fire Department extended its condolences as well. In a supportive social media post, they described their heartbreak for the Riceville team, stating, “In times like these, words fall short, but know our thoughts, prayers, and unwavering love are with each and every firefighter, their families, and the entire department.”
