Fatal Crash Claims Life of North Carolina Dump Truck Driver in Greenville County
Greenville County, S.C. — A tragic late-night accident on Interstate 385 has claimed the life of a dump truck driver from North Carolina. The victim has been identified as 54-year-old David Mather Whitehead Sr. from High Point, North Carolina.
According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on June 15. A 911 call alerted authorities to the scene near exit 37 on southbound Interstate 385, where two vehicles were involved in the collision. Emergency responders quickly transported Whitehead to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on June 16, at 12:42 a.m.
An autopsy for Whitehead has been scheduled, and officials from the Greenville City Police Department are conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the crash. As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the accident.
