North Carolina GOP voters forgive scandal-tainted Harris, nominate him for Congress

Charlotte, N.C. – In a surprising turn of events, North Carolina GOP voters have forgiven scandal-tainted candidate Mark Harris and nominated him for Congress in the 9th District. Harris, who was at the center of a high-profile election fraud scandal in 2018, won the primary runoff against incumbent Representative Robert Pittenger.

Despite the controversy surrounding Harris, voters seemed willing to overlook his past transgressions and focus on his conservative platform. Harris ran on a platform of supporting President Trump’s agenda, securing the border, and protecting the Second Amendment. His message resonated with Republican voters in the district, who ultimately decided to give him a second chance.

The primary runoff was closely watched, as it pitted two very different candidates against each other. Pittenger, who had served in Congress since 2013, represented the establishment wing of the party, while Harris, a former pastor, campaigned as an outsider. In the end, it was Harris who emerged victorious, winning 54% of the vote.

Harris’ victory sets up a rematch of the 2018 general election, where he narrowly lost to Democrat Dan McCready. The 9th District race is expected to be one of the most closely watched and hotly contested races in the country, as Republicans and Democrats vie for control of Congress.

While some may still have reservations about Harris’ past actions, it is clear that GOP voters in North Carolina are willing to give him another chance. Harris will now turn his attention to the general election, where he will face a tough challenge from McCready. It remains to be seen if Harris can overcome his past scandals and secure a victory in November.
