El presidente Joe Biden habla a la nación tras retirarse de la contienda presidencial de 2024

President Joe Biden addressed the American public for the first time on Wednesday night after announcing he would not be running for the 2024 presidential race. He publicly admitted that pressure from the Democratic Party was the reason for his decision.

Biden expressed that he believed it was time to pass the torch to a new generation to unite the nation. Despite facing calls to resign, he stated that he would continue in his role over the next six months, focusing on reducing costs for working families and defending personal freedom and civil rights.

A recent Carolina Journal Poll showed that over 80% of voters are spending more on groceries than a year ago, impacting their perspectives on the country’s direction. Biden thanked Vice President Kamala Harris, who is seen as a likely successor, for her leadership.

Former President Donald Trump, who was in Charlotte on the same day, criticized Biden’s speech as “bad.” Speculation continues about Harris’s potential selection as vice president before the Democratic National Convention in late August, with reports suggesting Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina as a top contender.

The Carolina Journal will release its August poll results at a presentation lunch in Wilmington on August 9, providing insights into the 2024 elections in North Carolina. Biden’s decision not to run has stirred political conversations, setting the stage for changes within the Democratic Party as new leadership emerges.
