Griffin endorsed for NC Supreme Court by Americans for Prosperity

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) in North Carolina has officially endorsed Judge Jefferson Griffin for the upcoming 2024 lone race for the NC Supreme Court. Griffin, a Republican currently serving on the NC Court of Appeals, has a background as a district court judge and prosecutor, as well as a veteran of the North Carolina Army National Guard. His commitment to upholding the Constitution and safeguarding individual liberties has earned him the support of AFP.

Griffin is running against incumbent Associate Justice Allison Riggs, a Democrat appointed by Gov. Roy Cooper. Riggs has a background as an activist attorney and previously worked at the Southern Coalition for Social Justice. Despite her qualifications, AFP believes Griffin, with his strong constitutional conservative values, is more suited for the Supreme Court.

AFP is focused on endorsing candidates who promote free market economic policies and uphold the Rule of Law. They believe having solid jurists like Griffin on the bench is crucial to protecting good policy from judicial interference. With recent Republican victories in NC Supreme Court races, Democrats are hoping to protect Riggs’ seat and eventually flip the court back into Democratic control in future elections.

The upcoming election will determine who will serve an eight-year term on the NC Supreme Court, and both Griffin and Riggs have recently debated their judicial philosophies at a candidate forum. The endorsement from AFP signifies their confidence in Griffin’s ability to serve on the court and promote constitutional principles.
